Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.
Education:
GL-07: 1 full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement.
GL-09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate, education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - physical education.
OR
Experience:
GL-07: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GL-05 grade level. Experience that demonstrates the ability to plan, supervise, administer or carry out a sports program that includes a variety of individual and team sports.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
- Experience in developing team sports, activities and tournaments.
- Experience in developing and overseeing a recreation program’s daily operation and primarily organize and direct participants.
- Experience in developing the skills needed for participation to include teaching the techniques and rules of sports to participants, officials and umpires in a recreational program.
GL-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GL-07 grade level. Experience that provides a thorough knowledge of the physical and psychological factors of individual and team sports and have administered a variety of recreational activities such as team sports, developed recreational program plans and/or budget requirements for a segment of a larger recreational program covering the needs of a varying target population and a wide variety of sporting events.
Applicants at this level have the ability to adapt and develop program activities to meet the divergent needs of an inmate population.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
- Experience in managing or administering a sports program in a community, industrial activity, or secondary school or college.
- Experience in planning, teaching or evaluating a physical education curriculum for secondary or higher academic levels.
- Experience in managing or umpiring, or officiating at amateur or professional athletic events, competitions, or games.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience:
GL-07 and GL-09: You may have a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the particular qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

In order to be creditable under this provision, superior academic achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled.
If you are selected for this position and qualified based on education (i.e. basic education requirement and/or substitution of education), you will be required to provide an OFFICIAL transcript prior to your first day on duty.
