Duties

  • Provides support and assistance to the Sports and Fitness Director in the use of recreation equipment, materials, and facilities. Apply a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of various types of recreation equipment.
  • Instruct patrons on proper use of variety of equipment. Issues/receives recreational equipment to authorized users. Identifies age-appropriate equipment for procurement, selects vendor, and purchases gear/equipment as needed.
  • Maintain hand receipts and collects all inventoried items. Inspects supplies and equipment for damage. Ensures sufficient supplies are on hand and equipment in good condition to support the sports and fitness program.
  • Assists in setting up sports events and may assist in athletic programs as needed. Maintains an effective safety and accident prevention program. Conducts daily safety and maintenance checks of facilities, grounds, and outdoor recreation areas.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment required to maintain proper facility safety compliance. Ensures no observable hazard exists in program areas e.g., walks the playing/practice surface looking for debris and other hazards, evaluates fences.

  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

  • Travel to on and off post locations required.
  • Incumbent must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

1. Progressively responsible work experience that provided knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance, inventory, ordering and instructing; and use of various recreation equipment.
2. Good customer relations skills.
3. Must be physical able to walk, bend, stoop, stand on a routine basis; lift supplies and equipment weighing up 50 pounds.

Best Qualifying Criteria
- Demonstrated 5 years related experience
- Demonstrated experience in sport field maintenance
- Experience in officiating intramural sports core programs
- Forklift License

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. Sunday premium may be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).   • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Night differential may be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.

  • Incentives will not be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Allowances, differentials, or incentives will not be paid.
  • Post allowance may be paid in accordance with the Department of States Standardized Regulations (DSSR), contingent upon eligibility.
