Student Trainee - Administrative Support and Program Management
Overview
Join the Program Management Office in supporting the transformative infrastructure programs at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program and acquisition management, alongside exposure to engineering and software maintenance related to FAA's automation systems. Our mission is to modernize and sustain the National Airspace System (NAS).
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and development of software for the efficient and cost-effective operation of the NAS.
- Engage in mission-critical projects under supervision, contributing to day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate with managers and experienced employees to prioritize assignments and manage resources effectively.
- Apply basic program management and communication skills within various groups in the PMO.
- Prepare analysis and presentations, and engage in data consolidation using Microsoft Office tools.
- Participate in cross-PMO Intern development activities and gain exposure to leaders and networking opportunities.
Eligibility Requirements
- US Citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Completion of one full academic year post-high school with enrollment in a qualifying institution.
- Submission of college/university transcripts required.
- Participants may transition to a permanent position per eligibility, but continuation is not guaranteed.
Education
This role requires a positive education background. Transcripts must be uploaded with your application. Schools must be accredited by a recognized institution.

This position is part of the Gateways Internship Program, offering mentorship, professional development, and applied experience. Select interns could convert to permanent roles based on performance and program completion.
