You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Conducting file search for aliases and dates of birth and criminal behavior;
- Reporting all instances of fraud or suspected fraud, including misrepresentation of identity, submission of fraudulent or altered docs, and patterns discerned by review and analysis of submitted petitions and applications; and
- Identifying and prioritizes files with national security threats and public safety issues. OR
Education: You may substitute 1 full year of graduate level education OR have successfully completed a bachelor's degree and claim eligibility for superior academic achievement based on one of the following: a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of the graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Conducting file search for aliases and dates of birth and criminal behavior;
- Reporting all instances of fraud or suspected fraud, including misrepresentation of identity, submission of fraudulent or altered docs, and patterns discerned by review and analysis of submitted petitions and applications; and
- Appling the rules of evidence and criminal procedure to protect the constitutional rights of the applicant/petitioner. OR
Education: You may substitute a master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as a LL.B/J.D.) or 2 academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree for the experience required at the GS-09 level.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Ensuring that all records and property are maintained and/or destroyed in accordance with security requirements;
- Writing well-organized, logical, often complex legal decisions and opinions; and
- Granting (or tantamount to denies) applications based on evidence generated by requests for evidence or researches and refers cases to appropriate channels where fraud is suspected. OR
Education: You may substitute successful completion of a Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree such as LL.M) or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree for the experience required at the GS-11 level. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
