Duties
As a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist (Title 32), GS-0346-12, you will perform the below duties
- Serves as the SASMO IT Branch Section Chief. Exercises supervisory personnel managementresponsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, anddirectives of management. Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions,details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, andEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) objectives. Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performancestandards. Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback onstrengths and weaknesses. Holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of workassignments. Appraises subordinate workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in ratingtechniques. Recommends awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases. Hears andresolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher-level management.Initiates action to correct performance or conduct problems. Effects minor disciplinary measures suchas warnings and reprimands and recommends action in more serious disciplinary matters. Identifiesemployee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training (formal and on-the-job) tomaintain and improve job performance.
- Responsible for troubleshooting, diagnostics and resolution of technical problems identified introuble tickets; initial setup of specified Automated Logistics Information System computers to includeloading software, configuring modem and network card(s), assigning Internet Protocol (IP) addresseswith correct subnet, connectivity to the network as required, coordinating with other supportpersonnel, and completing technical inspections. Coordinates with help desk personnel on resolutionmethods while staying in contact with other support personnel for additional and priority escalation.Develops/implements programs to ensure software and vulnerabilities updates are applied in properorder. Coordinates and communicates with Department of the Army (DA), National Guard Bureau(NGB), Program Executive Offices (PEO)/Program Managers of supported systems, regarding CSSoperations and automated logistics systems support, problem resolution, software upgrades andchange packages. Assists functional users in automated CSS systems management and operation.Establishes and ensures proper maintenance of a CSS resource library and the retrieval and disposalof CSS software.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for Functional Administrators and the users of the serviceddatabase(s). Administers the day-to-day database operation and maintenance of the serviceddatabase(s). Performs tests to ensure the serviced database(s) efficiently collects, stores, andprocesses data. Evaluates, determines, and initiates corrective action to recover or restore data andreturn the database(s) to operational status.
- Resolves issues and problems concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of logistic administrative
and systemic work operations. Utilizes knowledge of logistics management principles, policies, and
procedures to implement, establish and execute operational plans and policies for the logistics
system. Reviews SASMO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring they are current (i.e.,
help desk, repair operations). Evaluates trouble tickets escalated from the help desk, setting priorities
on a weekly and monthly basis. Analyzes requirements, establishes programs/procedures ensuring
effective coordination on CSS automation hardware systems and peripherals pertaining to the
receipt, distribution, installation, and life cycle management of devices that are directed to be
managed at unit/state level. Identifies maintenance requirements and coordinates/initiate's corrective
action. Establishes a State CSS automation tactical computer exchange (TCX)/hardware float
program and oversees the management of the program ensuring accountability of exchanges.
- Represents the DCSLOG on DCSIM Configuration Control Boards (CCB). Represents the
DCSLOG for implementing or improving logistical operations through Automated Logistics Systems
and Programs, serves as primary point of contact for logistical automation projects to include fielding
of new equipment and improvements/upgrade to existing Automated Logistics Systems and
Programs. Advise the DCSLOG of issues and concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E7/SFC - E9/SGM), Warrant Officer (W2/CW2 - W3/CW3), or Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O4/MAJ) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E7/SFC - E9/SGM), Warrant Officer (W2/CW2 - W3/CW3), or Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O4/MAJ), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
GROUP III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard.
Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E7/SFC - E9/SGM), Warrant Officer (W2/CW2 - W3/CW3), or Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O4/MAJ)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have experience, education, or training which includes identifying activities involving logistical support operations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, education, or training equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
- Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed.
- Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
- Experience performing a full range of supervisory functions.
- Experience directing the development of the logistics support plans and guidance.
Education
