Duties
The incumbent is a supervisor and subject matter expert in EEO litigation and related matters. The incumbent will report, and provide assistance and support, to the Associate General Counsel for the division.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Serving as the first-line supervisor to attorneys/paralegals on EEO matters, which may include assisting the Associate General Counsel or directly performing the following duties and responsibilities: assigning work; providing direction on how to accomplish assignments; reviewing, providing feedback on, and approving work products; evaluating performance of subordinates; providing advice, counsel, and instruction to individual employees on both technical and administrative matters; interviewing candidates and making selection recommendations to OGC leadership for filling vacant positions; making recommendations for appointment, promotion, or reassignment; effecting disciplinary measures as appropriate; identifying and addressing developmental and training needs of employees; and making recommendations to the Associate General Counsel on settlement of matters.
- Representing the agency in important and sensitive litigation at the EEOC.
- Directly supporting, and assisting other attorneys in supporting, the Department of Justice in trial and appellate litigation, including consulting with Justice concerning whether the agency should seek further review of adverse decisions.
- Other supervisory and attorney-advisor duties as assigned, including in subject matters such as adverse and performance-based actions; suitability and security; internal and government-wide labor relations; collective bargaining; FOIA and Privacy Act appeals; MSPB and FLRA appeals; governmentwide intervention and reconsideration of MSPB and arbitration decisions; and examination, certification, and appointment into the civil service.
