Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Medical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Must attend the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception.
- Must attend the United States Army Military Police Investigator School within 12 months of hire date.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and/or maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Incumbent must pass, within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter, a physical agility test.
- This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and has been designated by the Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees may be required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related Law Enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Position is subject to the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- Must attend a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date.
- Must attend the Field Training Officer Program and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception.
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying law enforcement investigative procedures, techniques and methods to investigate crimes; 2) Preparing reports of investigations, conclusion, and briefs; 3) Testifying in administrative or judicial hearings; AND 4) Analyzing investigative facts and evidence in order to develop cases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
