Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, CO is searching for a Supervisory Financial Specialist to support SYD85 (NH-0501-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
Description:
As the Supervisory Financial Specialist, you will provide the SYD 85 and PEO with strategic financial management advice and decision support across all appropriations as well as ensuring the achievable budget and execution plans are identified and met. You will work with System Delta program and financial leads as well as represent the SYD 85 CFO and SYD 85/CC on acquisition and financial boards/groups/committees as necessary. As the PEO CFO, you will provide essential analytical support to a variety of Space Force Leaders across a portfolio of national interest programs and projects, including classified programs. You will support collaborations System (SSC) and Mission (CFC) Deltas, to provide program managers, the SYD Commander and the PEO with critical analysis, data and products required to assess the health of not only the current programs, but also future financial investments, technologies and programs of the future!

Ideal Candidate:
Expert level knowledge of the DoW PPBE and Acquisition processes. This role demands strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead teams and take calculated risks. An ability to challenge the status quo and push financial management paradigms is essential, as is effective communication across all levels, from senior leadership within SSC to various Pentagon-based and DoD organizations. Must have a bachelor's degree. A proven financial management leader with over 8 years of experience is sought to guide our financial strategies. The ideal candidate possesses direct PPBE leadership experience, preferably within the context of building space and ground systems, with financial management experience in all phases of acquisition life cycle, with experience with Middle-Tier Acquisition (MTA) and software intensive programs considered a plus. Cost analysis experience is also desirable. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Comprehensive knowledge of OMB, Congressional, and agency financial management and program objectives, budget precedents and controls guidelines and regulations.
2. Knowledge of the commonly used agency budget, automated financial systems, and performance metric procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides.
3. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, selecting and applying a variety of analytical methods and techniques to budgetary processes.
4. Ability to conduct studies, analyze data, develop alternative options/strategies and make recommendations to resolve budget/manpower issues.
5. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
6. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD and organization s that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
7. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
8. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
