In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
- Combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
Minimum Qualification [GS-14]: One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-13 in the Federal service managing programs designed to benefit fish and wildlife species.
Experience must include: 1) supervising, managing, and motivating a team of natural resource professionals focused on the management, research, monitoring, and conservation and recovery of wildlife; 2) identifying and solving challenging and complex issues related to natural resource management/conservation by building effective partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders/partners; 3) representing your agency/company in complex negotiations with representatives of diverse groups, local, state, tribal, Federal agencies and the public concerning conservation projects; 4) utilizing experience with relevant policy, laws, and regulations (Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act) to exercise direct responsibility for leading, planning, developing, obtaining resources for, and implementing natural resource work plans, projects or studies. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
