In this position you will serve as the Chief, of the Employee Management Relations Office responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Employee Management Relations function, ensuring that all aspects of the Employee Management Relations program comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.

- Plans, assigns, and monitors the work to be accomplished by subordinates
- Represents the Employee Management Relations Office with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with high-ranking military or civilian managers and other key mission partners.
- Research and recommend appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, installation, command, or agency
- Advises the Commander, key managers, and supervisors on the full range of workforce effectiveness issues

- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed “Unscheduled Telework.
- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.
- Promotion potential may be authorized depending upon position being filled.

- This position MAY be eligible for paid relocation (Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be paid). Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.
- Up to 25% Travel possible
- Obtain and maintain Security clearance (if applicable)

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles, practices, and regulatory requirements of employee relations concepts, case law, principles, practices, and regulatory requirements in the federal government, Department of Defense, and the Air Force.
Position specific skills and experience desired in a potential candidate:
- 5 years of experience as an Employee Management Relations Specialist desired
- 2 years of AcqDemo experience desired
- 2 years of Labor Relations experience desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and regulatory requirements of employee relations concepts, case law, principles, practices, and regulatory requirements in the federal government, Department of Defense, and the Air Force.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of the Employee Relations office.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and to ensure understanding and acceptance of findings in reports, special studies, or projects.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with management officials, supervisors, employees, co-workers and others, to ensure cooperative resolution of problems, and to provide effective coordination of activities.
