SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - In addition to the meeting the Basic Requirement, this position includes a Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: This position has a positive education requirement which must be met in order to qualify.
The basic education requirement is: A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of a Supervisory Health Science Specialist - Epidemiologist. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 13) in the Federal Service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Health Science Specialist - Epidemiologist, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying specialized experience includes leading or supervising subordinates' work, managing performance, reviewing training needs, etc., and planning, developing, analyzing, and overseeing epidemiologic investigations of the long-term effects on a population from occupational and environmental exposures. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as medical records, food trays, instructional material, books, and manuals. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training roams, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
