Experience: Experience must be Information Technology (IT)-related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level: Applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
- Applying IT system principles and emerging techniques to recommend technical strategies for resolving complex IT security challenges;
- Coordinating project teams to ensure suitable prioritization and timely completion of high-priority tasks;
- Providing guidance and recommendations on technological solutions to customers to ensure full integration with organizational strategy;
- Serving as IT Program Manager overseeing the security of operated IT systems and operations;
- Developing the principles of cyber security and development of cyber security policies, procedures, and standards

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
