The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Pentagon, Arlington VA is searching for a Supervisory IT Specialist for S1A (NH-2210-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned and strategic leader with deep expertise in the acquisition, development, and management of Defense Business Systems, specifically HR IT systems. They possess mastery of IT policy, project management methodologies, and communication-computer/information technology principles, allowing them to effectively guide the team in developing innovative solutions that align with USSF requirements. Critically, the candidate is a proven supervisor with a strong track record of mentoring, motivating, and developing high-performing teams. They demonstrate exceptional communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior military and government officials. Furthermore, the ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the DAF financial planning and POM processes, enabling them to effectively manage resources and advocate for the team's needs. Finally, a proactive and collaborative approach is essential, as the Deputy Director will frequently engage with various stakeholders to resolve issues, coordinate efforts, and represent USSF HR Systems at industry and government forums. Relevant professional certifications are a plus.


Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Mastery of IT policy and planning concepts, methods, and practices; and project management methods and concepts.
2. Mastery knowledge of communications-computer and information technology concepts, principles, techniques, etc. to develop policy, plans, requirements and procedures, etc.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and supervise, mentor, and motivate the staff of an organization through subordinate leads.
4. Knowledge of the DAF Financial Plan and POM processes.
5. Skill and ability to speak and write effectively, highly complex technical and possibly sensitive issues and statements prepared for senior military, government, and private sector management officials. Ability to give briefings, chair meetings, lead task forces and prepare reports at the General Officer/SES level in the Department of the Air Force and Joint arena.
6. Skill in providing technical leadership, managing projects and providing guidance to other IT technical specialists, government employees and contractors, engaged in planning and conducting studies and analyses, and developing recommendations affecting management and oversight of current and future Space enterprise IT systems and networks.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • PCS is authorized.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework"
  • Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first).
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 40 days per year
  • This is a cybersecurity position; the employee will attain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certificate(s) applicable for cybersecurity functions required for the DoD position held.

Qualifications

The 2210 series has an individual occupational requirement that must be met and can be viewed here. There is no Group Coverage Qualification Standard for this series.
