Serves as the Director of Industry Operations (DIO). In this capacity, the employee, in conjunction with the special agent in charge (SAC), is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating comprehensive firearms and explosives regulatory programs throughout the field division.

Duties
The major duties of the Supervisory Industry Operations Investigator (Director of Industry Operations) (IOI) position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves as an advisor to top level Bureau management such as the Assistant Director(Field Operations), Division Chiefs, field Special Agents in Charge (SAC's), on all policy issues and technical matters within his/her area of responsibility.
- Performs complex, in-depth studies and/or directs and coordinates task forces or working groups on significant law enforcement issues which impact on functions and programs of national significance.
- Provides technical assistance to Bureau managers and supervisors on major national investigations involving violations of Federal laws under ATF jurisdiction.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends improvements to major law enforcement program and mission areas.
- Provides leadership and guidance to Headquarters and field managers on the impact and implementation of new developments, trends, technology, and other matters affecting the assigned functional area, project, or program.
NOTE: Only two selections will be made for this announcement, one for Atlanta, GA and one for Portland, OR or Seattle, WA depending the needs of the Field Division.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Supervisory Industry Operations Investigator (DIO) position [at the GS-15 level, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-15 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
Specialized experience must include all of:
- Planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating firearms and explosives regulatory programs; AND
- Supervising a field staff of Industry Operation Investigators; AND
- Briefing and advising personnel at a National and Headquarter level on programs and issues related to regulatory matters.
