Conditions of employment

- Subject to one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period (unless prior service is creditable). New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required new supervisory training program before the end of their probationary period.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-14 level: Applicants must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following:
- Specialized experience is defined as experience evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving information technology architectures, systems, policies, procedures, and requirements and current developments and/or trends in one or more IT specialties or disciplines.
- Specialized experience in web and desktop geospatial information systems especially valuable.
- Providing leadership and expert technical advice to management to explore, develop, and implement new information technology techniques and methodologies.
- Developing solutions to unique or unusually complex problems regarding information technology operations.
AND
Information Technology (IT) related experience must also demonstrate each of the nine competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Decision Making- Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.

Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

Salary wage as shown is for Rest of the U.S. Final salary will be determined at the time of selection dependent on the duty location for more information, refer to the Office of Personnel Management, Salary and Wages web page.

How you will be evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
You will be evaluated in accordance with the category rating procedure as defined in the USDA Demonstration Project Plan. Applicants who meet the basic minimum qualification requirements established for the position will be placed in the Eligible category. You will be further evaluated against criteria for placement in the Quality category. This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Assessment Questionnaire. Individuals with veterans' preference are listed ahead of applicants who do not have veterans' preference within each category.
Accomplishment Record Review: If you are found minimally qualified, a rating panel will review your resume and Accomplishment Record narratives.
