Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-10. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience/and or education as described below:
GS 11 Specialized Experience/and or Education: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-10) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Medical Care Transportation Technician - Supervisory Paramedic. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is serving as a lead/supervisor and technical advisor pertaining to emergency medical services; performing the duties and responsibilities of a paramedic that includes but is not limited to responding to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness; supervising and/or administering life-sustaining aid to patients; performing patient triage and employing a variety of advanced emergency medicine procedures during transport; planning the work of other paramedics and subordinate staff members; and observing workers' performance and conducting performance evaluations.

Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have successfully completed a Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree and is directly related to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate education (beyond the second year) and experience, described above, to meet total qualification requirements.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - FOUR Selective Placement Factors (SPF) have been identified for this position. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods of heavy moving and lifting of patients in a variety of situations. Generally, the work requires recurring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, and positioning of patients, frequently under adverse conditions or in confined areas. May be required to spend prolonged periods in protective breathing apparatus and protective closing during chemical, nuclear, biological, or hazardous materials incidents/exercises. Employee may be exposes to infection and contagious diseases, and may involve exposure to patients who are intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, or mentally unstable resulting in belligerent and sometimes violent behavior.
