In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Museum Curator:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field such as Museum Studies or History.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
OR
Experience: Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four year course of study as shown in A above.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1.) plans, executes, supervises and evaluates the overall programs and projects assigned; 2.) executing museum resource management, both manpower and financial; 3.) composing policies and operational guidelines concerning museum management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

- Technical Competence
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). To be referred, applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
