Summary

This position serves as the Director of Quality Management for the Fort Yuma Health Care Center in Winterhaven, CA., and will oversee and coordinate all administrative management and support services for the Quality Management Director. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Duties

  • Directly supervises Quality Management staff including recruitment, work schedules, performance reviews, trainings for staff and departmental budget.
  • Providing direction, coordination, management, planning, and training for a comprehensive accreditation program that includes Quality Management, Performance Improvement (QAPI), Clinical Risk Management (RM), Safety, and Accreditation compliance (AC) for Service Unit.
  • Participate in the development of strategic plans; develops long-range goals, annual objectives, and strategies to meet the healthcare goals of the organization.
  • Lead in a proactive customer responsive manner consistent with the service unit's vision and values and takes a leadership stance in advocating for and advancing the priorities.
  • Direct and coordinate performance improvement initiatives for the health center.
  • Proactively educate hospital leadership and medical staff regarding regulatory issues, new statues guidelines, and medical safety performance improvement activities.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Implementing a Medical-Clinical Quality Improvement Program to meet Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Accreditation Standards. Developing processes to improve the delivery of patient care, both collaboratively and independently. Determine short-or-long term goals and strategies to develop continuous quality improvement methodologies.

Additional information

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

This position is ineligible for the Bargaining Unit.

Recruitment or Relocation Incentives and/or Permanent Change of Station may be authorized and is subject to availability and service unit approval. If offered, you will be required to sign a service agreement. The service period may not be less than 6 months and may not exceed 4 years.
