Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in Operations Research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Leveraging advanced modeling and simulation tools to evaluate the effects of transportation, distribution, and force projection on combat outcomes, incorporating both transportation and combat simulations; and (2) Communicating strategic insights and recommendations to senior leaders, including General Officers and SES officials across DoD, USTRANSCOM, and HQDA, through clear and concise oral and written briefings; and (3) Applying comprehensive knowledge of sustainment metrics and performance indicators to support the lifecycle development and operational decision-making for organizations and materiel systems; and (4) Conducting detailed programmatic and technology analyses to validate operations research, cost-effectiveness studies, and economic assessments in support of long-range strategic planning; and (5) Leading high-performing technical teams by recruiting specialized talent, evaluating team performance, and enforcing policies that drive innovation and cross-functional collaboration; and (6) Identifying and resolving high-level distribution and mobility challenges by engaging with senior DoD stakeholders to ensure force projection strategies align with overarching mission objectives.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
