The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo CA is searching for a Supervisory Operations and Administrative Support Specialist to support SYD 810 (NH-0301-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).
Description:
As a vital member of the System Delta's senior leadership team, the SYD 810/S1 Chief leads a blended workforce of government and contractor personnel to deliver comprehensive management services across the organization. The successful candidate will serve as the primary advisor to the command team on all matters related to management support, unit readiness, and training. This role requires significant operational expertise across a diverse portfolio, including military and civilian human resources, information management, non-core IT support, emergency management, physical space allocation, and supply logistics. The S1 Chief serves as the principal lead for all Organize, Train, and Equip (OT&E) initiatives, where they develop operational policies, interpret higher headquarters directives, and oversee the Commander's Inspection Program.

To ensure sustained mission success, the S1 Chief must be adept at building cohesive teams and fostering strategic partnerships. This involves establishing strong working relationships with Space Systems Command (SSC) staff, Space Base Delta (SBD) 3, and other external organizations to benchmark and share best practices. The S1 Chief frequently acts as the Commander's representative at various base and command-level working groups, committees, and councils. Since this position supports operations and personnel across multiple geographic locations, occasional travel is required. Additionally, the candidate must maintain the flexibility to work varied hours to effectively manage short notice taskings and dynamic mission requirements.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of comprehensive range of Services functions, policies, procedures, practices, concepts, and theories related to the mission, management, and operation of Services organizations to provide high level staff guidance.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts; draw conclusions; conduct analysis; devise recommended solutions; and package the entire processing briefings, papers, or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making.
