Physical Demands: Incumbent must maintain good physical condition and be able to pass the Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB), work capacity, or applicable standards outlined in Director's Order 57 (DO-57) and Reference Manual (RM-57) NPS Occupational Medical Standards, Health, and Fitness. Work demands range from moderate periods of office work (walking, standing, sitting, and lifting) to strenuous periods of extreme physical and mental activity. Emergency medical services activities involve walking long distances over rough terrain, carrying heavy loads, and using technical rescue equipment. The incumbent must be able to work in tight spaces. The incumbent must be able to ride in a boat, work at height, and fly in a helicopter without ill effects. The incumbent must be able to perform physical activity in personal protective equipment including dry suits, chemical protective clothing, and respirators.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting, classroom, in the field, on water, and on occasion via Medevac . Rescue and EMS work Involves frequent exposure to hazardous environments, hazardous flight landings and takeoffs, extremes in temperature, and exposure to communicable diseases. Various levels of personal protective clothing are required to perform functions safely. Position may be exposed to hazardous materials or other CBRN agents. Incumbent will be required to wear personal protective equipment including respirators.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
Documentation for the
Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility, You
must submit ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for
each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance consistent with your SF_50s.
