Duties
The ideal candidate for the Pharmacist (Unit Dose) Supervisor position will be an exceptionally talented, and motivated pharmacist with Unit Dose, Non-Sterile Compounding and Controlled Substance experience. The candidate must have strong communication and people skills and be capable of managing pharmacists and technicians in a complex, fast paced environment. Supervisory experience, project management and process improvement skills are highly desirable.
Duties for the Supervisory Pharmacist (Unit Dose) will include but are not limited to the following:
- Overseeing unit activities to ensure the safe and timely preparation and delivery of unit dose products.
- Overseeing controlled substance and non-sterile compounding activities to ensure continual compliance with all standards, laws and regulations governing controlled substances and non-sterile compounding.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with USP <795> and USP <800>
- Overseeing, providing guidance and accountability of Unit Dose pharmacists and technicians.
- Optimizing workflows to improve safety and efficiency.
- Developing and revising standard operating procedures.
- Training staff and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Evaluating staff performance and supporting professional development.
- Serving on medication related committees and work groups.
- Verifying medication orders.
Supervisory duties that apply to this position, which include but are not limited to the following:
- Under the direction of the service chief, participating in establishing organizational priorities, analyzing issues and making decisions based on supportable data and judgment. Under the direction of the service chief, participate in developing policies and procedures and establishing standards for the section and ensuring they are followed.
- Ensuring all standards for patient and staff safety are implemented and followed.
- Evaluating staff and organizational effectiveness in accomplishing assigned work objectives and tasks and trouble-shooting problems that arise in accomplishing goals and objectives.
- Leading process improvement initiatives to further develop and implement more efficient and streamlined methods and procedures to accomplish the goals and objectives of the section.
