BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement you will also need to meet the following:
FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Providing technical and administrative supervision and oversight by preparing reports, acquisition plans and budget preparation/ tracking, procurement of goods and services, and conducting risk analysis, using plant pest program databases, and research tools
- Assisting with developing program policy development, including processes and procedures that improve operations, resulting in greater efficiency and effective application of regulations for inspections, treatments, survey/eradication programs, and quarantine applications.
- Managing plant pest and disease program administration, involving large-scale resources, a high degree of logistical planning, and multiple funding sources, monitoring contracts.
- Evaluating and developing staff members, addressing performance problems, managing workforce staffing needs for overtime and TDY assignments.
- Representing the work unit and state-wide programs in meetings with inter/intra-organizational cooperators, stakeholders, and contracting entities to confer program status, accomplish goals, and/or leverage resources.
