Conditions of employment
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the United States Army Civilian Police Academy program of instruction within one year.
- This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.

- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

- Federal law requires removal of a federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies after the law took effect on January 20, 2001.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. These include: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing law enforcement activities such as patrol, criminal investigations, forensics, data analysis, administration, community outreach, and tactical operations; 2) Providing training and guidance on law enforcement regulations and procedures; and 3) Leading security or law enforcement teams. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.
