Summary

Help us fight fraud! SSA's Office of Program Integrity is searching for a supervisor to help SSA detect and prevent fraud. The supervisor will manage a team responsible for technical data analysis, research, and production-level analytics. The supervisor will apply analytical techniques and experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and geospatial analysis when managing the team.

Duties

  • Supervises branch employee and oversees SSA program integrity activities with responsibilities to include, but not limited to, anti-fraud inquiries and operations and anti-fraud analytics.
  • Supervises the branch employees in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques.
  • Provides advice on work methods, practices, and procedures; and leads the branch employees in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • Through the analysis of various management reports and data, identifies trends and problem areas, presenting findings to Division Director, and making recommendations.
  • Responds to ad hoc assignments from the Division Director and/or Senior Advisor that require prompt office-level action.
  • Articulates and communicates to the branch employees the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, program issues under review, deadlines, and time frames for completion.
  • Ensures that work assignments or projects of the employees of the branch are carried out by arranging the work among employees to allow timely completion and adequate work for each employee.
  • Keeps up with the status of the work, making appropriate adjustments in accordance with priorities; and reports to the Division Director on unusual problems that arise and on expected completion times.
  • Develops various reports, presentations, correspondence, and other management documents on administrative and/or programmatic issues.
  • Ensures that the organization strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the branch employees and integrated into the team strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, work products, and services.

To qualify for this GS-14 position, applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at or equivalent to the Federal GS-13 level (or above) that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped the applicant with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include:
  • A. leading or coordinating teams, technical projects, or workloads involving advanced statistics or machine learning (artificial intelligence);
  • B. developing, refining, or managing studies involving large datasets and statistical or machine learning analytical techniques and processes;
  • C. transforming unprocessed, incomplete, or unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis using R, Python, SAS, or SQL OR
  • D. preparing research reports, technical papers, guidelines, or instructions for technical and non-technical audiences.

This is a supervisory position and is subject to the completion of a 1-year probationary period for a supervisory position unless the employee served in such a position before August 11, 1979, or has completed one.

This position may be filled in any of the OARO duty station locations listed below. Selectee will be required to reside within a two-hour maximum commuting distance from their official duty station location. This position is eligible for telework in accordance with agency and office policy.
