We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Supervisory Psychiatrist to join our team in the Outpatient Mental Health section at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. You will be a part of a highly integrated, interdisciplinary program providing evidence-based psychiatric treatment to our valued veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric treatment for veterans, using Tele-Mental Health as appropriate.
  • Utilize skills in Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology for comprehensive patient care.
  • Work with community facilities for effective discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and document patient care.
  • Participate in and lead treatment teams for collaborative patient management.
  • Conduct compensation and pension examinations as needed.
  • Respond to critical incidents and engage in administrative stretch assignments.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 0730-1600. Alternative schedules may be considered.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Full, unrestricted medical license
  • Completed accredited psychiatry residency
  • Board certified or eligible with DEA registration
  • Proficient in written and spoken English

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with mental health law and procedures
  • BLS certification
