Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. This position is located on the Communication and Marketing Staff (SC) of the Office of the Chief of Staff (S). The NARA Public Affairs and Communications program provides support to the Archivist, Deputy Archivist, Chief of Staff and all offices within NARA.

Duties

As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

- Be responsible for external and internal agency level communications activities. This work portfolio includes safeguarding and enhancing NARA's reputation and brand identify through a comprehensive program that includes media relations, social media management, web content development and management, multimedia production and management, and staff engagement.

- Serve as a managing director of the Communications and Marketing Division responsible for leading the daily operations and support services of three teams: public and media relations, employee communications, and content development and management.

- Foster a collaborative and collegial work environment that enables inclusive staff input and contribution to office and agency priorities and goals.

- Supervise managers and/or functional leads whose teams include public affairs specialists, writers, and editors managing scopes of work of extreme complexity and high visibility across varying communications platforms.

- Provide expert counsel and support to agency executives in planning and executing strategic communications and outreach focused on internal staff and external stakeholders (e.g., media and public relations).

- In collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer, develop and execute integrated marketing and branding campaigns that build awareness, attract new audiences, and enhance NARA's reputation and reach.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiencefor this position includes:

- Evaluating the effectiveness of outreach and communications programs; AND
- Planning and leading a team, project, and/or an outreach communications program; AND
- Responding to internal and external inquiries for individuals or segments of the public directly and indirectly affected by an organization's programs that contribute to the overall understanding of the organization, thereby furthering community awareness and support for the missions of the agency.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14level for 52 weeks.
