Duties

Plans, develops, manages, publicizes, and evaluates a diverse year-round recreation and adventure program for the entire Osan AB community, to include active-duty military, retirees, DoD civilians and their families. Plans and administers day-today operations of the Community Center. Identifies individuals with special interests and develops/conducts programs for special interest groups to include but not limited to families, single parents, singles, retirees, and private organizations on an on-going basis and during deployments, exercises, and other special base activities. Conducts needs and interests' assessments to determine programming and activities, continuous evaluations of activities to determine effectiveness and participation of the programs. Supervises staff of Community Center. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: Plans and coordinates the details of recurring and non-recurring group activities such as instructional classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games and events, self-leisure, and joint community undertakings so as to make maximum use of resources. Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Gathers information from a number of different sources, including past programs and current popular programs in other communities. Coordinates activities with on-base and off-base resources, which are consistent with military and morale mission. Determines supply and equipment requirements and assists in the financial planning for various programs. Solicits and selects volunteers for activities which could not be scheduled without such assistance. Provides training to volunteers, and guidance to leadership to various center activities and participants. During deployment, exercises, and other special conditions, leads leisure activities and assists with services. Sets up rooms to support meeting group needs. Coordinates community programs with other specialty areas of the program; develops periodic program plans and annual activity budgets requirements; accounts for all funds and transactions; maintains financial audit trail; develops submit, revises quarterly and eval\lates NAF/APF budgets. Requests commercial sponsorship to meet program needs and requirements. Prepares after-action reports for all programs and events. Maintains property records, and control security of property and supply items. Reports facility repairs and maintenance requirements according to procedures. Assists in maintaining facility to meet operational standards. Provides courteous and timely responses and acceptable solutions or alternative to customer needs.

  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commuting area of the duty location for this position.
  • Commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have knowledge and experience in planning, organizing and directing a variety of basic and enhanced recreational activities, customer service, and supervision of employees. Must have proven responsible experience which has demonstrate the ability to manage business activities. May have been gained in an operating, administrative, or managerial position which included responsibility for planning organizational or club activities. The experience must have provided knowledge of accounting and financial planning principles and procedures. Thorough general knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of the broad field of recreation, and a thorough understanding of the recreation and leisure interests and motivations of individuals and groups. Progressively responsible experience in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty for which considered. Ability to select, plan, adapt, and coordinate the details of activities, special events, and to make the maximum use of facilities, services resources and consider participants, interest and needs. Ability to schedule and publicize activities and attract and motivate participants. Knowledge and ability to apply personnel management policies. Basic knowledge of budge preparations is desired. Must have ability to read, write and speak English. Must have computer skills to include all Microsoft office features. Must have experience 2 years specialized experience of a Recreational program or facility or
- 1-year related experience equivalent to the NF -III level or
- 1-year related experience plus a bachelor's degree in a related area or
- a master's degree in a related area.
Must successfully obtain and complete a Tier 1 Investigation, State Criminal History Repository Checks (SCHRC), and Installation Records Checks (IRCs). Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. May be subject to an irregular tour of duty schedule which may include split shifts, nights, weekends, and-holidays. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use"
