Duties

This position is located at Naval Air Station Oceana. This position plans, organizes, coordinates, guides, and supervises the day-to-day operation for the safe and efficient operation of the Skeet, Trap and Archery Range and Vehicle Storage Programs provided to all eligible customers. Prepares, administers and monitors the annual budget. Insures proper internal controls are established to protect income, minor property, fixed assets, supplies, records, etc. Establishes and conducts ongoing preventative maintenance programs for the facilities, equipment and vehicles, to provide for safe and reliable service. Insures payments for services are collected in a timely manner and contracts are kept up to date in accordance to audit standards. Keeps the equipment and associated gear/ safety items clean and operating properly. Provides instruction to new guests on proper procedures for operation of machines, pulling methods, firing positions and safety rules and regulations as well as the rules for vehicle storage. Continually observes activities of guests, enforcing applicable safety rules, policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:

  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and possess a comprehensive knowledge of wide range concepts, principles and practices relating to the authorization and development of Skeet and Trap/Archery programs.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of firearms, laws and regulations concerning firearms and skeet/trap/archery repairs/adjustments and setting of targets.
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of the current techniques of operating a business, including some experience with point of sale cash register equipment, basic computer software, accounting and budgeting functions.
  • Must be experienced in providing exceptional customer service to all patrons and training subordinate staff to provide the same.
  • Skill in assessing the needs of patrons and determining what programs/equipment will be of interest to patrons.
  • Ability to market the program and motivate eligible patrons.
  • Must possess the skill and knowledge to analyze cost/income to achieve a self-supporting operation/program.
