Join the Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System as a Supervisory Social Worker in our esteemed Mental Health Care Line. You will have the opportunity to lead a team in providing comprehensive mental health services for veterans. This role focuses on overseeing administrative and programmatic resources, ensuring the delivery of therapeutic services, and fostering a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the development and implementation of mental health programs, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate with various program areas and negotiate service agreements
- Provide clinical consultation with an emphasis on evidence-based practices
- Lead and guide staff training and development
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients
- Influence hiring, performance reviews, and staff discipline collaboratively
- Participate in patient care delivery and clinical operations optimization
- Ensure compliance with relevant accrediting bodies through timely documentation and evaluations
- Serve on various VA committees and represent the medical center in external forums
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
- Licensed or certified in social work at the advanced practice level
- One year of supervisory experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level
- Ability to independently manage work and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use data for decision making
- Physical demands: minor, generally sedentary with occasional travel
- Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Working Hours and Benefits
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
