Join Our Team as a Supervisory Social Worker

Join the Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System as a Supervisory Social Worker in our esteemed Mental Health Care Line. You will have the opportunity to lead a team in providing comprehensive mental health services for veterans. This role focuses on overseeing administrative and programmatic resources, ensuring the delivery of therapeutic services, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the development and implementation of mental health programs, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate with various program areas and negotiate service agreements
  • Provide clinical consultation with an emphasis on evidence-based practices
  • Lead and guide staff training and development
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients
  • Influence hiring, performance reviews, and staff discipline collaboratively
  • Participate in patient care delivery and clinical operations optimization
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accrediting bodies through timely documentation and evaluations
  • Serve on various VA committees and represent the medical center in external forums

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Licensed or certified in social work at the advanced practice level
  • One year of supervisory experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level
  • Ability to independently manage work and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use data for decision making
  • Physical demands: minor, generally sedentary with occasional travel
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination

Working Hours and Benefits

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
