Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking and standing required to attend meetings, seminars, and conferences with other VA employees and other government agencies. Some travel to VA field facilities may be necessary.
Supervisory Probationary Statement: Applicants selected for this position may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period. Failure to successfully complete the supervisory probationary period will result in the employee being reassigned to a position in the agency of no lower grade and pay than the one the employee left to accept the supervisory or managerial position.
Major Duties:
- Performs advisory duties associated with the management and control of resources or funds within a centralized payroll structure.
- Serves as a first line supervisor to teams of analysts.
- Ensures delivery of world-class financial support to both internal and external customers.
- Outlines policies, program requirements, objectives, and resource limitations regarding various Defense Civilian Pay System reports, Memorandum of Service Level expectations, Roger Software Data reports, Student Loan Repayments, Debt Waiver packets, Reservist Differential Pay and Not To Exceed reports.
- Monitors and controls the payroll process in the centralized payroll environment by ensuring timely recording, coding, balancing, and scrutinizing for inaccurate accounts or transactions.
