Education must have been directly related to the position to be filled (general psychology/sociology courses are not qualifying).
Basic Education Requirement:
1. A bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in special education, early childhood education, child/youth development, elementary/secondary education, or directly related behavioral science,
OR
2. Completion of 24 semester hours in coursework as indicated above, plus additional related coursework and/or experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a 4-year course of study.
In addition to meeting one of the requirements above, candidates must possess experience at a level which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities for successful performance.
This experience must have been gained in child and youth programs/educational settings as follows:
1. Child and youth program management and/or training implementation experience (may include public school and/or youth recreation program administration).
2. Experience demonstrating skills necessary to foster professional development in adults.
3. Experience as a supervisor, leader, or mentor.
4. Experience analyzing programs to determine professional development needs.
5. Experience developing training plans or educational curriculum, identifying training sources, conducting training, and evaluating outcomes.
6. Experience in budget planning and implementation.
7. Experience working with child and youth partner organizations, parents, schools, or other liaison services to achieve common goals.
In addition to the above, highly preferred candidates will possess ALL of the following. Do you have the following experience:
- Strong knowledge base of evidence-based practices for children with special needs?
- Experience in developing MIAT Plans designed to meet related services and transitional needs of the child through the establishment of goals, objectives, and timelines?
- Experience with employing a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the individual needs and capabilities of a child?
- Experience setting performance standards, conduct performance evaluations,and take corrective actions when necessary OR Skilled in conflict resolution, employee coaching, and performance improvement planning.
- Skilled in assigning work, delegating responsibilities, and managing multiple training programs simultaneously.
- Direct experience leading a staff training program, including on boarding, on going professional development, and tracking of staff credentials.
