A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. For all other applicants, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.
- Arranging the most economical shipment of freight processes.
- Coordinating the movement of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Recommends, develops, and implements ways to improve work processes and increase the quality of work of the branch.
- Planning and directing work associated with the movement of materials.
GS-08:
- Reviews completed work and makes decisions on course of action when policies and/or procedures are not established.
- Directs section operations through subordinates.
- Arranges the most economical shipment of freight processes.
- Develops performance standards and completed performance appraisals.
B. Education: As a general rule, education is not credible above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate's education is directly related to the work of the position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
