In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated systems which involve ordering supplies and/or equipment; Tracking inventory received; and preparing purchase orders to obtain goods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated programs to order supplies and/or equipment; preparing purchase orders to obtain goods; and investigating discrepancies impacting inventory balances of supplies or equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Physical Demands: Work is partly sedentary. Includes regular walking, bending, standing, carrying/lifting items (up to 70 pounds) pushing or pulling delivery carts, elevating boxes weighing 30-50 pounds above shoulders and unloading/loading vehicles. Employee regularly conducts physical inventories in offices, schools, warehouses and other storage areas. Work also includes frequently moving mail packages, supplies, equipment, or furniture around the work site. Employee also assembles furniture, shelving, and other items for use by agency.
Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in well lighted; heated; and ventilated offices, supply rooms, conference rooms, class rooms, and mail rooms. Employee is required to travel by automobile (and other modes as necessary) to a variety of locations. Employee uses safe work practices with office equipment, avoids trips and falls, observes fire safety regulations, traffic signals, and normal safety precautions at all times. May perform duties requiring the use of personal protective equipment against safety hazards. Such equipment may include hearing, foot, eye, hand, head and visibility protection.
