Duties

  • You will facilitate and provide the full scope of operational management and oversight of Transition Assistance Program services.
  • You will coordinate with counterparts from other commands to plan and schedule various training events for service members and their families to prepare them for success in civilian life.
  • You will assist clients with creating and maintaining their Individual Transition Plan (IDP) and identifying personal and vocational needs to help them outline milestones to achieve their goals.
  • You will advise clients on how to navigate employment resources to include federal job vacancies, application processes, and on qualification standards.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1) Providing necessary tools to effectively transition from the military to the civilian community;
2) Facilitating the full scope of operational management and oversight of Transition Assistance Program (TAP) for transitioning military members and/or family members, retirees, reservist, and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members.
3) Advising clients on how to navigate employment resources to include federal job vacancies, application processes, and on qualification standards.
4) Developing, maintain, and update marketing materials and maintain up-to-date inventories on available transition and employment services and providers.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Applicants that do not have the specialized experience described under the Qualifications section may qualify with education or a combination of education and experience as follows:
A. You have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
B. You have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
C. You have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
OR
D. You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Work Environment Work is primarily performed in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The incumbent may perform work aboard a ship, aviation squadrons, at shipyards, unregulated environments and at repair and construction areas, which may expose the incumbent to high levels of noise, high and low temperature variations, and may require safety or protective equipment. May support return and reunion (R&R) efforts, which would involve living and working on aship when it is underway or deployed. During active EFAC events due to a man-made and/or natural disaster, may be exposed to various conditions to include loss of power, conditioned air, and normal standards of living due to the nature and impact of the event.

Physical Requirements Work is primarily sedentary in nature. Some walking, bending, and stooping is required. When providing training, standing may be required during entire sessions. Incumbent may be required to carry files and documents weighing up to 20 pounds. May provide classes to commands located on large Navy ships. Considerable walking, climbing, crouching, and bending is required while aboard ships. Moving about the ship requires agility and range of motion within walkways, portholes, ladder wells and other tight spaces.
