THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, Position Description Number D1694000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing , Kansas Air National Guard.

Duties

As a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, GS-0391-12, you will supervise, direct and manage employees designing, engineering, analyzing, installing, maintaining, programming and operating Theater Air Control weapons systems comprised of sensor systems, Information Technology (IT) networks, and communications systems in both tactical and fixed base environments.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For continued employment, the selected dual status technician must obtain and maintain all compatible service specific military skill requirements in training and education.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Specialized experience includes experience, education and training that provided knowledge of communications equipment, systems, services, and transmission media; knowledge of electronic communications concepts, principles, practices, procedures, policies, standards, and operational requirements; application of specialized communications methods and analytical techniques; technical knowledge of the operational and performance characteristics of communications equipment, automated control and network management systems, transmission media, and the relationships among component parts of telecommunications systems; and competencies in the subject matter or business processes associated with the DoD, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force telecommunication programs. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
