Duties

  • You will perform both classified and unclassified telecommunications related surveys.
  • You will review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex telecommunication problems dealing with dedicated and switched voice and data circuits.
  • You will coordinate and make recommendations for improvements to services, equipment, and facilities supporting and/or containing telecommunication resources.
  • You will assist in the planning, development, system design, and the improvement of existing telecommunications systems for both military and civilian organizations.
  • You will provide initial surveys for upgrades of voice services.
  • You will outline, develop, engineer, and coordinate individual communications network upgrades to the voice and data systems.
  • You will prepare written reports of findings and make recommendations for improvements or other corrective actions.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Broad knowledge of communications concepts, principles, and practices to accomplish work processes through the use of telecommunications devices, methods, services, and facilities. Examples of qualifying experience include, preparing projects to modernize telecommunications systems; correcting identified deficiencies; reviewing and evaluating telecommunications systems operations; and planning and implementing telecommunications
installation procedures.

To qualify via education:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a Major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled

Successful completion of a LL.M., if related
