This National Guard position is for a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1686000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard.

Duties

As a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST GS-0391-11, you will plan and design the Information Technology (IT) networks and telecommunications required to support the ACS Weapon System, specializing in the interconnection and integration of tactical radar sites and other participants of the Weapons System, and to analyze, monitor, and optimize their performance, security, and capacity during peacetime and wartime operations. Performs duties necessary to provide information technology and telecommunications functions and services which support programs essential to Air National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating mission accomplishments and training requirements of functionally assigned guard member. Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience concerned with the movement of information between locations. Information moved in the form of voice communications, such as radio or telephone (including cellular), data communications involving digital transmission between computers, computer terminals, facsimile stations, or video communications such as that used in teleconferencing. Technical work of gathering materials; coordinating schedules; developing specifications and planning telecommunications programs and projects; testing equipment; providing services and software for performance acceptability; and related work connected with the acquisition, technical acceptance, installation, testing, modification, and replacement of telecommunication equipment, services, and systems.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Specialized experience includes experience, education and training that provided knowledge of communications equipment, systems, services, and transmission media; knowledge of electronic communications concepts, principles, practices, procedures, policies, standards, and operational requirements; application of specialized communications methods and analytical techniques; technical knowledge of the operational and performance characteristics of communications equipment, automated control and network management systems, transmission media, and the relationships among component parts of telecommunications systems; and competencies in the subject matter or business processes associated with the Department of Defense, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force telecommunication programs.
