Summary

You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (SPECTRUM) in the STATION AIRFIELD OPERATIONS (SAO) ofMARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI .

Duties

  • You will provide overall management, procurement, assignment, and protection of radio frequencies to the satisfaction of the telecommunications requirements in support of the air station.
  • You will serve as a Spectrum Frequency Specialist for analyzing technical data of communication systems.
  • You will maintain accurate and current records for all spectrum dependent systems and equipment operating aboard MCAS Iwakuni
  • You will ensure host nation supportability for all spectrum dependent systems and equipment using the Host nation Spectrum Worldwide Database Online.
  • You will assist in the investigation and resolution of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/ Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) to systems and equipment aboard MCAS Iwakuni.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

  • Must be certified in Spectrum XXI and able to be granted a Spectrum XXI data exchange account.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing spectrum management, radio frequencies, electromagnetic planning and policy. providing training on frequency request and interference to operations.

Education

Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. Must be a graduate of the Interservice Radio Frequency Management School (IRFMS), Basic Electromagnetic Spectrum Management Course, the Army Spectrum Management course or equivalent training.
