Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS WORKER (MVO) (MI GAAF), Position Description Number HTARNGAFWG08 and is part of the MI Camp Grayling, National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION***

1. Refuels rotary and fixed-wing aircraft using hot and cold refueling methods. Performs aircraft defueling operations as requested. Ensures that fuel quantities for both air and ground vehicles are on hand to meet requirements and needed stock is obtained from proper locations.

2. Transfers fuel from bulk tanks to aircraft refuel vehicles and other customers by operating pumps and accessory equipment. Sets pipeline hoses, tank valves and manifold switches to regulate flow. Monitors equipment and makes appropriate adjustments to maintain adequate pressure and proper fuel mix.

3. Provides transient alert assistance and marshalling services. Directs aircraft to designated parking areas and refuel/defuel points using proper hand, arm, and wand signals. Ensures transient aircraft are properly chocked, grounded, provided mooring, and armaments set on safe before servicing. Grounds petroleum distribution equipment and aircraft.

4. Performs administrative tasks in support of the Fuel Distribution System Worker (MVO) Supervisor including preparing reports, correspondence, logs, and other documents. Submits appropriate documents through the Fuel Automated System (FAS) to the financial management office in order to initiate proper reimbursement action.

  • Must have a valid civilian driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and annually thereafter.
  • Must have a Fuel Handler's License (DD Form 1902, Certificate of Qualification) or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a state issued Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Must obtain and maintain a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement to the state issued commercial driver's license within 6 months of employment.
  • This is an inclement weather and mission essential position.
  • Subject to call in after normal duty hours and work alternate work schedules as mission dictates.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Experience or training providing knowledge of the equipment (e.g., tanks, manifolds, valves, filter/separators, pumps, etc.) and procedures for constructing bladder tank farms sufficient to provide technical guidance to and inspect the work of others. Knowledge of fuels, fuel distribution, regulations, and procedures, and the operation of fuel distribution systems sufficient to perform a variety of functions associated with the operation of a system, including general maintenance. Ability to apply knowledge of more complex steps and processes to convert fuel measurements from volume received at tank temperature to the equivalent volume at the standard temperature set by the American Petroleum Institute.


Education

You must meet the following Education/Certification requirement to qualify for this position:

  • Fuel Handler's License (DD Form 1902, Certificate of Qualification) or equivalent.
  • State of Michigan issued Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement to the state issued commercial driver's license within 6 months of employment.
To receive credit for Education/Certification, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the requirements for this position.
