Duties
***THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION***
Information Officer(CIO/G6/J6). Serves as project leader/supervisor responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. The systems administered involve multiple hardware platforms running multiple operating systems in both physical and virtual configurations. The incumbent is accountable for the planning and coordinating the installation, testing, system security configuration and monitoring, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all server hardware and software. Work pertains to the administration of all systems including ensuring the efficient integration between systems as well as compatibility within the network infrastructure. The supervised team members are specifically assigned to multiple system platforms located throughout the state.
Provides executive leadership, guidance, and direction to ensure acquisition, development, and retention of a professional, highly capable workforce to accomplish assigned missions. Provides supervision in the daily operations for delivery of C4IM services.
Establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance. Reviews and recommends approval of, candidates for promotions and recognition. Reviews and approves: work plans to be accomplished by subordinates; priorities and schedules for completion of work; sets broad objectives; monitors subordinate employees' performance in providing IT services; reviews accomplishments; and takes appropriate action of correction when deficiencies are noted. Gives advice, counsels, or instructs individual employees, on both work and administrative matters.
Collaborates with other supervisors and managers within the directorate to negotiate, decide on, or coordinate work-related changes affecting them. Advises their supervisor with broader and higher responsibilities on problems involving the relationship of the work of the system administration teams to broader programs, and its impact on IT Services. Serves as a technical advisor to management.
Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Develops and enhances automated systems to improve performance and efficiency. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. Provides formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption.

- All certifications are required within 6 month of employment.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experiences working on information technology administrative classified systems, workstations, and servers using multiple operating systems. Experiences involved the installation and testing of the system security configuration, along with a range of competencies in monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining workstation and server hardware and software. Must have experiences as a technical expert and unit focal point for the configuration of hardware and software on a variety of IT systems with different hardware and operating systems. Skilled to identify and enforce command standards for hardware and software configurations. Skilled to develop, modify, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Capable to configure work-station security parameters. Competent in troubleshooting and correcting software problems that included resolving conflicts between applications, hardware and/or device conflicts, and operating system faults. Skilled in detecting and removing computer viruses. Skilled in restoring critical data files; and in updating hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Experienced as a systems administrator with responsibilities that included planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting that met or exceeded customer needs. Knowledgeable on the administration of all systems, to include a myriad of associated hardware platforms, software applications and numerous interfaces included in the Local Area Network (LAN). Competent to perform security management work in accordance with AF, AFSPC, National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Air National Guard (ANG) regulations and policies. Competencies include the skills to implement local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment. Knowledgeable on applications used to analyze, evaluate, and recommends hardware/software changes to various computer systems. Skilled to identify factors such as, compatibility with standard systems, conversion or implementation costs, compliance with DOD, AF, AFSPC, and ANG policies, and resulting impacts on existing equipment. Skilled in the ability to install, configure and test products and equipment. Experiences including the development of plans for the necessary acquisition of automation (hardware and software) requirements. Experienced in working within guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), bulletins, and flyers for the operation and use of assigned C4 systems, services, and activities. Competent to analyze policies, regulations, and system provisions that govern standard operating systems and skilled to provide assistance and advisory services.Competent in performing the full-range of supervisory duties in regard to subordinates and managing personnel responsibilities. Skilled in advising, coaching, mentoring, and counseling employees to ensure understanding of the Air National Guard personnel programs, policies, to include senior management procedures and directives. Experienced in conducting interviews and selecting candidates for initial hires, reassignments, promotions, or formal details. Must have experiences and competence in regard to identifying Dual Status technician positions' Series qualification and/or certification requirements, training development, and compatible military skills. The supervisory experiences involved leading, planning, and scheduling program work in a manner that promoted smooth flow and even distribution of assigned work requirements.
