Summary

You will serve as a Tool Room Mechanic in the Production Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

  • You will manage, track, distribute, and troubleshoot a wide variety of hand tools and equipment of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical nature to determine their condition.
  • You will reassemble parts and assemble both tools and equipment to establish close tolerances and find adjustments.
  • You will operate and test reworked tools and equipment to assure their desired operating parameters are met in accordance with the specifications and requirements of users.
  • You will log all tools and equipment "in" and "out".
  • You will replace defective, broken, or worn parts as required using replacement parts stocked in the tool room or the supply system when such parts are available.
  • You will purchase new tools, equipment, and repair parts within an allotted budget.
  • You will examine disassembled parts of both tools and equipment to determine the need for repairs or non-repair ability of the item.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and illustrated parts breakdown of tools and equipment; 2) Disassembling tools and equipment of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical nature to determine the need for repair and/or adjustment; 3) Maintaining an accurate and precise tool usage record of all tools and equipment of the tool room; 4) Testing reworked tools and equipment to assure proper performance and making necessary adjustments to achieve the desired operating parameters.
