Summary

You will serve as a Tractor Operator in the Production Plant Barstow of Marine Depot Maintenance Command.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

Duties

  • You will operate diesel powered tractor 90,000 Draw Bar Pull (DBR).
  • You will drive all types of motor vehicles normally exceeding 32,000 pounds.
  • You will operate diesel powered tractor as a prime mover to tow/push heavy equipment such as tanks, wheeled ordinance vehicles and heavy trucks.
  • You will operate in an extremely confined space within the shop, with equipment and personnel moving about.
  • You will guide other operators with arm and hand signals.
  • You will be familiar with local/state rules and regulations of the road to include height, width, length and weight of cargo limits.
  • You will report any defects in vehicle operations, accidents, damages or traffic violations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an industrial/warehouse tractor license within 6 months of employment as directed by 29 CFR 1910.178.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment and annual physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Operating diesel-powered tractors 90,000 D.B.P (Draw Bar Pull) and drive all types of motor vehicles, normally exceeding 32,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating such as a 988B Cat, warehouse mule/tractor, 16K front loader, 36K Forklifts using forks, trailer lifts and lifting slings. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
