Duties

  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to subordinate elements, the headquarters operations section, and other staff sections in planning, coordinating, preparing, conducting, and documenting individual and collective training
  • Serves as the technical specialist in readiness reporting for the organization.
  • Manages and oversees the administration of the command’s school program.
  • Makes recommendations and assists in the preparation of yearly training budget requirements for submission to higher headquarters based on yearly training guidance and training calendar.
  • Ensure the proper forecasting, allocation, and usage of training ammunition within the command.
  • Assists in the preparation of plans and procedures for anti-terrorism/force protection and military support to civil authorities.
  • Provides input to the training officer for the assignment of work within the training and operations section.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: O1 through O2

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 01A
The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant's demonstrat the ability to follow directions, read, understand, and retain instructions, regulations, and procedures that otherwise validate the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of Army or Air Force education and training programs regarding their principles and procedures. Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experience in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.

Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
