Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) 1 Test and Evaluation Squadron Detachment 1 (1 TES Det 1) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California is searching for a Test Director (NH-0801-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
As the Test Director you will have the opportunity to directly shape future space systems through rigorous testing and evaluating to ensure future capabilities are delivered to the warfighter. You will lead and integrate an team(s) of subject matter experts as they ensure critical systems are designed to meet real-time needs across the space domain. Your expertise will have a direct impact on crucial missions, such as the formation of on-orbit battlespace awareness necessary for orbital warfare operations and the protection of us and coalition spacecraft.
The ideal candidate will contribute to diverse projects that involve cutting-edge space and military testing and have demonstrated experience with systems engineering and software applications within the DoD and/or space domain. Knowledge and experience with operations center command and control applications. The ideal candidate will have a STEM degree and an adjudicated Top-Secret clearance investigation and a DoD Test and Evaluation background.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of multidisciplinary professional engineering to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to areas of responsibility.
2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Skill in evaluating space systems performance and determining test requirements while maintaining good working relationships with developing contractors, customers, and senior leadership.
4. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations, negotiate mutually acceptable solutions; manage human, financial and information resources and build coalitions to achieve common goals.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
6. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
7. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
8. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
9. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
