To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for this position you must meet the following screen-out element:
- Ability to do the work without more than normal supervision. You may meet this requirement if you have experience and/or training to perform routine duties of a groundkeeper grounds maintenance in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment and irrigation system, maintain lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs through mowing, trimming, planting and fertilizing, inspect grounds for hazards repair needs, and report maintenance issues.
This screen-out element is a critical self-assessment of the applicant's experience and is essential for satisfactory job performance.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the above, qualifications will also be determined by comparing your application to the responses on the Assessment Questionnaire against the guidelines found in the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, WG-3502, series. The questionnaire will assess how your knowledge, skills, and abilities match what the position calls for. The elements are as follows:
- Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.
- Operation of Motor Vehicles
- Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
