Duties
- Operates gas- and diesel-powered tractor, drawn and tractor powered mowing equipment, including a 3, 5, 7, and 9 gang real mower, off-set counter-balanced rotary mower, sand trap rake, sweeper, spiker verticutter, aerator, top dresser, fertilizer spreader, sod cutter, stump remover, front-end loader, back-hoe, and grading blade.
- Operates a dump truck and other types of heavy-duty equipment needed to do daily maintenance, make special repairs, construct new tees, greens, or hazards, and to do tree pruning, trimming, or planting.
- Mows lawns, fairways, roughs, and tees at designated cuts including rough terrains; removes debris, dead grass, broken tree limbs, leaves, and keeps assigned areas clean, presentable, and as attractive as possible, depending on the season and weather conditions.
- Applies the proper amounts of fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and nemacides according to manufacturer's directions and instructions.
- Digs trenches, cleans ditches and removes weeds around buildings, fences, shelters, tee markers, yardage identification markers, trees, shrubbery, cart paths, sidewalks, and other such locations, using hand tools such as a shovel, hoe, rake, pruning shears, and other types of specialized hand tools.
- Maintains, repairs, and installs watering system lines, sprinkler heads, and low voltage electric lines and switches associated with automatic watering systems.
- Operates a truckster, trap trimmer, portable pump, utility mowers, weed eaters, and several types of hand tools including an axe, crowbar, cup cutter, wheelbarrow, sod edger, sod lifter, shovel, spade, rake, pick, pruners, tree saw, animal traps, and watering accessories such as hoses, nozzles, sprinklers, and plumbing tools.
- Performs preventive maintenance on gas- and diesel-powered machinery, and electric powered carts, buffers, and vacuum cleaners, and other types of mechanical equipment and hand tools used to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.
CONTROLS OVER THE POSITION:
- Works under the administrative supervision of the Golf Course Manager, the general supervision of the Greens Superintendent, and the direct supervision of the tractor operator leader.
- Work assignments are received orally, by memo, and written work assignment, according to a general maintenance plan.
- Completed work is checked periodically to ensure proper application of chemicals, levels of cutting, degree of cleanliness, and compliance with the maintenance plan.
