Summary

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Training, Quantico VA.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and conduct training or education of personnel within the Practical Application Unit. The incumbent will provide technical support and training to customers in the field of driver training, specifically providing in the Tactical Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (TEVOC) block of instruction in basic and advanced driving.

As a Training Instructor, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Provides comprehensive and extensive coverage of the subject matter including thorough exposition of sophisticated driving techniques.
  • Provides comprehensive and extensive coverage of the subject matter including thorough exposition of sophisticated driving techniques.
  • Provides technical evaluation of trainee driving skills and authenticates trainee performance.
  • Develops lesson plans, handout materials, practical exercises, and other training aids.
  • Develops, revises, and conducts courses related to the area of driver training
  • Provide training to staff who will be using the new programs or products.
  • Observes student response and behavior and evaluates the progress of individuals and classes.
  • Responds to requests from a variety of news sources that pertain to an organization's operations while at the same time generating positive coverage and exposure to highlight the organization's successes.

Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled; OR

Experience: General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled.

Specialized Experience

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience as a GS-12, or equivalent level performing the following duties: 1) Developing training materials expertized in cyber investigations (e.g. Firewalls, Internet, Remote Access); 2) Facilitating small/large group discussions; answering questions in a clear and concise manner, talking to others to convey information effectively; 3) Accessing and evaluating systems requirements for a cyber investigation's organization.
