Summary

About the Position: This position is located at 18511 Highland Medics Street, as part of William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas.

Duties

  • Perform duties as a Training Specialist with responsibility for developing, evaluating, coordinating, delivering and facilitating a resuscitative training program to all employees assigned to and/or employed by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Coordinate with other units to facilitate clinical rotation training of soldiers for Medical Proficiency Training (MPT) for low density Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and reservists.
  • Plan and coordinate training courses, request training rooms, recruit and confirm students and instructors, and make course schedule and instructor assignments.
  • Maintain roster of all current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructors.
  • Review and evaluate training materials, such as books and other printed material, audiovisual aids and tests, and update in accordance with current established standards/guidelines.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g. ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes providing instruction for life support-based programs, conducting administrative tasks pertaining to maintaining attendance rosters and training certifications; and coordinating with training instructors or maintaining testing materials in automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as Health Administration or Medical Education.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute.
