About the Role

Our Regional Office in Region 10 is seeking a passionate and experienced Tribal Relations Specialist. This role serves as the primary point of contact for federally recognized Tribal Nations in the region, contributing to the mission of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by developing, enhancing, and maintaining strong relationships with Tribal Nations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage communication strategies and materials aimed at Tribal governments.
  • Evaluate and enhance the emergency management capacities of Tribal partners, offering tailored plans and training.
  • Build and sustain relationships with key Tribal Emergency Management stakeholders and organizations.
  • Prepare briefing materials for regional leadership on Tribal engagement and initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To qualify for this role, you should have:

  • For IC-09 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to IC-07, or a Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • For IC-11 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to IC-09, or a Ph.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • For IC-12 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to IC-11, demonstrating skills in partnership development with Tribal stakeholders and the creation of engaging presentations and materials.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet the Public Trust - Moderate Risk standards.
  • Available for occasional emergency deployments, often with short notice.
